Jesus as the founder of the Catholic Church passed on His authority to Peter, our first pope, and the apostles. They in turn passed their authority down the line. This is known as Apostolic Succession, and is the basis for the fourth mark of the Church. The Church continues to guard and hand down the deposit of faith to us today. It is a place where we can go to learn, be nourished, grow, and then be sent forth to share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
